About Amy

I know what it feels like to be ill and function poorly in the world. It’s awful to be unable to thrive. Having regained my well-being, I want to help others thrive by sharing the things that worked for me.

I was introduced to energy work in 1998 when I received Reiki for the first time from a massage therapist. At that time, I was an undiagnosed empath, unable to tell the difference between what I was feeling, what others were feeling, and what “feelings”were caused by imbalances in my body due to illness. I suffered from a long list of food intolerances and environmental sensitivities, as well as unpleasant physical and emotional symptoms including depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic fatigue, dry eyes, acne, bad breath, osteoporosis, hot-flashes, intestinal issues, headaches, and sinus infections.

My health issues sent me on a journey to get well. I studied and tried out a wide range of medical and alternative medicine treatments. After learning how to manage and fix many of my own issues, I realized that I could help others. So, I opened my own small business as a Reiki practitioner. Over the years I’ve gained knowledge and skills for which I was most grateful when I came down with COVID early in 2020 and had lingering Long COVID symptoms. My skills helped me to recover and to be able to help others.

So, I don’t just believe in alternative medicine; I know that alternative methods like Muscle Testing, Herbalism, Meditation, and Reiki work because I have been able to use these practices to help myself and others recover from serious illness. I’m happy to report that I no longer have many of the uncomfortable, life-limiting symptoms that I used to have, and those that do remain I’m able to manage gracefully. I’m happy to share the practices that have worked for me so that you too may recover your wellbeing.

Here’s a little more about me as a person. I live in a cottage in the woods in Fairbanks, Alaska. I grew up in Los Angeles, California. I have family ties to people in the states of Illinois and Texas. My DNA tracks mainly from Britain. While I do have a grandmother who crossed the prairie in a covered wagon, I also have a deep appreciation of indigenous people’s rights and cultures. I’m most familiar with the traditional practices of the Celts of my family’s homeland and of the Alaska Native People who are my friends and neighbors. I enjoy writing, teaching, and creating activities to bring people together. I like to cook, garden, dance, sing, play guitar, hike, go to the theatre and museums, learn languages on DuoLingo, listen to the radio and audiobooks, and watch G or PG rated movies. (It’s an empath thing:)

Where I stand on politics, pronouns, and vaccines:

I’m neither pro nor anti vaccine. I’m vaccinated. However, I have had reactions to vaccines which lingered a long time and so I’m cautious about vaccines. On the other hand, I have an aunt that I never got to know who died from Polio before that vaccine was available. So, I have personal experiences with both sides and am able to meet you wherever you land on this topic.

Regarding sexual norms, while I now identify as a cis female and am in a traditional, committed relationship with a cis male, I have explored different relationship possibilities to come to that conclusion. I appreciate the clarity of observation and language that generations younger than mine bring to our collective perceptions of ourselves and others. I like difference in people and appreciate hearing from many perspectives. It seems obvious to me that, “We all do better when we all do better,” so I’m invested in helping all beings thrive. Although I’m 62 years old and so may struggle with changing my language habits, I will attempt to use the pronouns that you prefer. My pronouns are she/her. However, if you personally hate the woke-pronoun-thang, I can understand how you feel about that too.

Regarding politics, I hold the hope that we may be able to talk about different perspectives and ideas respectfully. Regardless of what a person’s religion, gender identification, race, or political party is, I respect emotionally balanced and thoughtful people and seek to become more so myself. My search to better myself has led me to learn and share practices to help people and animals become healthier, more balanced, and considerate both of themselves and others. If this sounds like what you’re seeking, we will work well together!
